Many dead, wounded and maimed: Russians talk about “disappearance” of relatives aboard the cruiser “Moskva”

Despite the fact that the Russian ministry of defence and media are avoiding disclosing the number of dead above the cruiser “Moskva”, many Russians are complaining on social media that their relatives who served aboard the ship are accounted for as “missing in action”.

Thus, the mother of a conscript-sailor of the Russian Black Sea fleet told journalists of Novaya Gazeta Europe about how her son managed to survive the sinking of the “Moskva”.

“My son said that the ship was hit from land, from the Ukrainian side. A fire could not have started on its own. There are many dead, wounded and missing. He calls me and weeps about what he saw. It was terrifying. Of course, not everyone survived. They tried to fight the fire themselves after the cruiser was hit by three “Neptun” missiles”, - recounted the woman.

According to her, close to 40 people died aboard the warship, some are missing and very many are wounded.

“Most of the wounded are missing limbs”, - specifies the mother of the Russian soldier.

The woman said that when her son first called after the sinking of the “Moskva”, he sounded terrified.

“Mummy, I could have never thought that, during a relatively peaceful time, I would end up in such carnage. I won’t even tell you the details of what I saw. It is that horrific”, - the woman quotes the invader’s words.

The woman admits that the Russian media are avoiding disclosing all the details of this event, as the ministry of defence of Russia “does not want to admit a defeat in the face of Ukraine”.

Users of the social network “VKontakte” are telling stories of their relatives who were not able to survive aboard the “Moskva”. According to Meduza, a resident of the occupied Yalta Dmytro Shkrebets stated on the 17th of April that his son Egor was serving by conscription on the cruiser “Moskva”. Shkrebets specified that after the sinking of the ship his son was added to the list of the missing in action, according to the ship’s officers.

“My son – as I was told by the command staff of the cruiser “Moskva” – is not among the dead or the wounded, and he is accounted for as “missing”. Missing in the middle of the open sea?!

After my attempts to get more details about the event, the commander of the cruiser and the first mate stopped answering me altogether. I asked them straight – why are you, the officers, alive, while my son, a conscript soldier, dead?”, - writes the father of the invader.

Dmytro Shkrebets asked the readers to share his post, “so that scum does not sweep this great tragedy under the rug”, and stated that he is ready to commit his entire life to “ensuring the truth wins in this story”.

We point out that previously, Dmytro Shkrebets posted that Ukraine, as a country, “should not exist”.

On the 17th of April “Agenstvo” discovered another social media post about the disappearance of a soldier in the wake of the destruction of the “Moskva”. The 47-year-old woman from Sankt-Petersburg Uliana Tarasova writes that her son, Mark Tarasov, “is missing in action aboard the cruiser “Moskva””.

“Agenstvo” found a young woman who appeared in pictures with Mark in social media photos. She confirmed that, on the 15th of December, the man departed to serve by conscription in the Russian army.

We remind that, on the 13th of April, a fire broke out aboard the cruiser “Moskva”, due to a strike by Ukrainian “Neptun” missiles. After this, the warship began to sink. Russia, however, claims that a shell explosion aboard the ship. On the 14th of April, the Russian ministry of defence officially confirmed that the “Moskva” sank during a storm in the black sea.

The ministry of defence of the USA, however, confirmed that the cruiser was sunk due to a Ukrainian missile attack, not an ammunition detonation.
