Morning attack on Ukraine: how many missiles and drones were shot down by Air Defense Forces

On December 31, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down 6 missiles and 16 drones. Another 24 drones did not reach their targets (dissapeared from radars).

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Details

As noted, on the night of December 31, 2024 (starting at 20:30 on December 30), the enemy launched 61 air attack units:

- 6 ballistic missiles "Iskander-M"/KN-23 from Voronezh region;

- 1 air-launched ballistic missile Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" from a MiG-31K fighter jet in the airspace of Tula region;

- 6 guided air missiles Kh-69 from tactical aircraft in the airspace of Belgorod region;

- 8 cruise missiles Kh-22 from Tu-22M3 aircraft in the airspace of Tula region;

- 40 "Shahed"-type strike drones and imitator drones of other types from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Bryansk, and Millerovo directions — Russia.

As a result of the combat work by the air defense, radio-electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces, the following were shot down:

- 1 air-launched ballistic missile Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal";

- 5 guided air missiles Kh-69;

- 16 "Shahed"-type strike drones, with another 24 imitator drones of various types dissapeared from radars (without negative consequences).

"As a result of the Russian attack, there were hits by ballistic missiles in Sumy and Kyiv regions. Despite the New Year’s mood, we urge citizens not to ignore air alerts. Take care of yourself and your loved ones!" the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine concluded.
