Podoliak about Evacuation from Kyiv: “Do We Even Have an Area with Stable Power Supply Protected Against Missile Strikes?”
Mykhailo Podoliak, the Adviser to the Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, commented on the rumors about potential partial evacuation from Kyiv due to difficult situation with power supply and heat supply in the city.
As Podoliak said in his interview for Channel 24, unfortunately Ukraine does not have a single safe area, where people may find reliable protection against Russian missile strikes, so it is nowhere to resettle around one million of capital city’s residents.
"We have to consider any scenarios, even the worst-case ones. However, I always stick to a pragmatic approach, which is not about emotions, but about cold-minded calculation. Therefore, I have a question: do we even have an area with stable power supply protected against missile strikes to resettle a part of Kyiv population there?", Podoliak said.
According to him, most people have managed to adjust to the upcoming difficult winter. They “understand everything and help each other”. Podoliak stressed that it was impossible to make any forecasts for the future, since the country was in the state of war.
