Putin Blackmails the World with Nuclear Weapon Because He Does Not Face Any Tough Response by the Global Community – Podoliak

Putin blackmails the whole world with the nuclear threat, because he does not face any tough response by the global community, Mykhailo Podoliak, the Adviser to the Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, said in his interview for the Russian journalist.

According to him, Putin has crossed “the red line” and now blackmails the whole world with the nuclear weapon. Meanwhile, “he continues to carefully watch if it works”.

Around a month ago, an active informational campaign has started to highlight the risks generated by the Russian troops deployed at the power plant. Putin pumped the brakes, when he noticed that prominent political figures and the IAEA representatives started to discuss the need for plant area demilitarization.

"They blew off the steam and made several statements. I mean the UN statements as well. No he has pretended to reluctantly allow the mission to access the facility through the Ukrainian territory, and now the Russians are actively working around it. The arriving mission is in the half-shocked condition, the experts are surrounded by armed people and journalists”, Podoliak said.

According to him, the sanctions against Rosatom would contribute to the de-escalation at ZNPP on Putin’s part.

"The initial tension has started to calm down. Naturally, he will think: “Ok, nice, let’s stay where we are”, consolidate his positions and wait more. This will continue unless he suffers significant losses. If Rosatom faced prohibition to work with other countries, follow-up on existing projects, sell nuclear fuel and maintain its foreign facilities, then Putin’s position would be much softer”, Podoliak stressed.
