Putin has been unable to say "yes" in response to the ceasefire proposal for a week — Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy notes that it is Russian dictator Vladimir Putin who is dragging out the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that Russia is ignoring the peace proposal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared that on March 17, 2025, he spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron.
This was stated in a message on the official website of the President of Ukraine in his daily address to the Ukrainian people.
"We coordinated our positions ahead of the upcoming talks between President Trump and Putin, and ahead of meetings in Europe. I want to thank Emmanuel and thank all of France for their support," the Ukrainian leader added.
"It is very important that tomorrow marks a week since the American proposal for a ceasefire in the sky, at sea, and on the front lines was put on the table. This proposal could have been implemented long ago. Every day in wartime is people’s lives. Now it has been almost a week, and it is clear to everyone in the world — even to those who have refused to acknowledge the truth for three years — that it is Putin who is continuing and dragging out this war. It is Putin who has been unable to squeeze out a "yes" in response to the ceasefire proposal for a week. He is saying whatever he wants, but not what the whole world wants to hear right now.
The unconditional ceasefire proposal is essentially about saving lives so that diplomats can work to ensure security and reliable peace — and it is this proposal that Russia is ignoring. Pressure is needed to make Moscow finally understand that their war must end," Zelenskyy concluded.
