The Russians have brought in reserves and North Korean soldiers to launch an offensive against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, so the situation there remains difficult.

Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, shared this information in a comment to the YouTube channel "RBC-Ukraine."

According to him, the Kursk region has become a political issue for the Kremlin.

"For them, it's already a political issue. They are throwing everything into it, they have changed their priorities. Until recently, their priority was the east of our country, to capture more land before the inauguration," Kostenko said.

He added that against the backdrop of certain negotiations regarding a ceasefire, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is using all his forces to "push" the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the Kursk region.

"This is a political operation on their part to secure more bargaining power in the negotiations that might happen. The situation is complicated; the weather adds to the difficulties, and there is now such mud that forces us to rely on logistical routes controlled by the enemy," Kostenko said.

He says that Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region are facing difficult conditions. They are doing everything they can to maintain at least a foothold on Russian territory as a buffer zone to prevent Russia from shelling Ukraine.
