Russia Bans Passage into Azov Sea for Vessels Loaded Outside Country
Russia has banned the passage of vessels loaded outside the country through the Kerch Strait into the Azov Sea, which, in particular, may indicate that the invaders are getting ready for further advance by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia has banned the passage of vessels loaded outside the country through the Kerch Strait into the Azov Sea, Russia’s state news agency TASS reports, citing the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Ministry. However the Russian government has yet failed to comment on such decision.
"According to the official notification we received from Russia’s Maritime Administration, the passage of vessels loaded outside the territory of Russia to the north through the Kerch Strait, which provides a passageway into the Azov Sea, is prohibited,” the Turkish Ministry states.
This may indicate that Russia is already preparing for further advancement of Ukrainian defenders and active hostilities in this area, including the Azov Sea. After the liberation of Kherson, the Ukrainian Armed Forces expanded the area of reach for HIMARS MRLS systems, which now includes the Isthmus of Perekop in Crimea and the entire Taurian steppe to the north of the peninsula.
