Over the past week, Russian troops have sought to step up offensive operations along the front, taking advantage of more favourable weather conditions. However, these efforts have not brought substantial results, apart from a sharp increase in losses.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this after holding a meeting with Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov.

They discussed the situation on the front and the activity of Russian forces.

According to Zelenskyy, Russian losses exceeded 8,000 personnel over the past week, including those killed and seriously wounded. He said this was the only tangible «result» of the increased attacks.

«We also have information that the Russian command has finally managed to understand where its units are actually located on the front and how this differs from the official reports that had been submitted upwards, ” the president added.

Situation on key frontlines

The president said the situation in the Donetsk region remains largely unchanged, with Ukrainian forces holding their positions.

Russian troops are attempting to advance from the border in the Kharkiv region and in border communities of the Sumy region, while Ukrainian forces continue to destroy units involved in the attacks.

Ukrainian assault and airborne units remain active on the Oleksandrivka direction.

Zelenskyy also highlighted the effectiveness of Ukraine’s long-range strikes and said frameworks for new operations had been approved.
