The Russian Armed Forces are increasingly using fake targets during attacks on Ukraine to confuse and mislead Ukrainian air defense systems.
Aviation market development expert Bohdan Dolintse shared this on the FREEDОМ TV channel.
He explained that these decoy drones are relatively cheap, costing no more than a few thousand dollars each. But the enemy enhances their radar reflectivity, making them appear on radar as combat drones like "Shaheds" or other types of attack drones.
“These systems are quite detrimental for us,” Dolintse noted. “The increase in these drones creates significant challenges for air defense systems, as they provoke the use of anti-aircraft missiles and the deployment of mobile groups tasked with destroying drones."
According to Dolintse, in a batch of ten drones launched by Russia, five might be actual "Shaheds," while the other five are decoys. These decoys drain resources, reducing the efficiency of targeting actual combat drones.
