Russia is not abandoning its plans to intensify combat operations on Ukraine's southern front, particularly in Zaporizhzhia region and the right bank of Kherson region.

This information was reported by RBC-Ukraine sources.

It has been revealed that the readiness of Russian forces for an offensive on the right bank of Kherson region is even higher than for operations in Zaporizhzhia.

The main strike in Zaporizhzhia region is likely to target the Pyatykhatky area, parallel to the Dnipro River. Active combat may also occur near Huliaipole.

In Kherson region, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have already attempted breakthroughs. At the end of November, enemy forces were repelled near the Antonivskyi Bridge from the side of Oleshky.

Sources confirm that the decision to launch an offensive on the right bank of Kherson region has already been made. The operation will be led by the commander of the Russian Airborne Forces, Mikhail Teplinsky. Up to 4,000 Russian assault troops are expected to be involved, including those who retreated from Kherson in the autumn of 2022, lending symbolic significance to the operation.

Russia's plans may also depend on weather conditions. To cross to the right bank of Kherson region, Russian forces would need to cross the Dnipro River, as all bridges in the area have been destroyed. Given this, the enemy may resort to using boats or constructing temporary crossings. Following the blowing up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, parts of the terrain on the right bank have turned into marshlands, which could freeze during winter, facilitating the movement of Russian troops.
