Russia launched a massive missile and "Shahed" drone attack: Everything known about the explosions, hits and consequences

On the night and morning of March 7, the Russian Federation’s army attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones - 261 air attack means in total. Explosions were heard in many regions. Air defense forces destroyed 100 UAVs and 34 missiles. However, there were some hits. The Russians targeted Ukrainian infrastructure.

Strike on energy and gas infrastructure

From early morning, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko reported that Russia had been attacking energy and gas infrastructure with missiles and drones throughout the night. In particular, the Russians struck Naftogaz facilities. Production capacities ensuring gas extraction were damaged. There were no casualties.

Meanwhile, DTEK reported yet another attack on the Odesa region. For the fourth night in a row, the enemy inflicted destructive strikes on the company’s energy facilities in the region.

Ukrenergo added that a missile-drone attack targeted energy facilities in several regions. As a result of the damage, some consumers were left without power by morning. In particular, outages were reported in Ternopil.

Attack with missiles and drones on Prykarpattia

Explosions occurred in Ivano-Frankivsk region first at dawn and then in the morning. The occupiers attacked the region with missiles and later with drones. The Russians targeted infrastructure facilities in Prykarpattia. During the air raid alert, explosions were heard in the region. Air defense forces were operating.

Hits in Ternopil region

According to local authorities, Russian missiles struck Ternopil region overnight. The strikes resulted in hits on a critical industrial facility. People were warned that there might be restrictions on gas supply.

Strike on Chernihiv region

Overnight, the occupying army also attacked Chernihiv region. Powerful explosions occurred in the area. One of the production facilities in the Pryluky district was damaged.

Attack on Odesa region

In the morning, the Russians launched a missile strike on Odesa region. In the Podilskyi district, debris from one of the cruise missiles caused a fire in a private single-story residential building. Additionally, four houses were damaged.

Explosions in Khmelnytskyi region

During the air raid alert overnight, strong explosions rocked Khmelnytskyi region. Air defense forces destroyed seven enemy "Shahed"-type UAVs and three cruise missiles. The regional military administration reported no appeals regarding destruction, injuries, or casualties.

Large-scale alert in Kyiv region

Overnight, the air raid alert in Kyiv region lasted nearly nine hours. Air defense forces were activated and successfully destroyed several aerial targets. There were no victims, and critical infrastructure facilities were not damaged, the regional military administration emphasized. However, falling debris ignited grass cover in the Boryspilskyi and Obukhivskyi districts, and a truck was damaged in the Obukhivskyi district. All fires were extinguished.

Damage in Poltava region

During the Russian night attack, debris from an enemy target fell on a private residential building in the Myrhorodskyi district. The regional military administration reported that two people, including a child, were injured. The victims were hospitalized.

Shelling of Kharkiv

The Russians attacked a civilian infrastructure facility in Kharkiv’s Kyivskyi district with an "Iskander" missile. A fire broke out at the impact site, and there were disruptions to the heating supply. Additionally, a nearby multi-story residential building was affected, and cars caught fire. At least eight people were reported injured.

Missile flyover in Bukovyna

This morning, a Russian missile violated the airspace of Chernivtsi region. Later, according to local authorities, the object changed its trajectory toward a neighboring region. There were no damages or casualties.
