During the night, Russian forces launched a massive drone strike targeting Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. Energy and gas transmission facilities came under attack in six regions: Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy.
Damage assessments are currently underway, while emergency and rescue services are working at the strike sites. Around 1 a.m., drones damaged equipment at a key substation in Sumy, resulting in power outages across a significant part of the city and for industrial consumers.
In the Poltava region, Russian forces attacked gas transmission infrastructure, causing severe damage. Energy and gas specialists are working to restore electricity and gas supplies as quickly as possible.
Ukrainian authorities regard these attacks as yet another act of energy terror by Russia, aimed at the civilian population and infrastructure on the eve of the heating season.
