Putin's order to conduct non-strategic nuclear weapon drills in Russia is an attempt to raise the stakes ahead of the planned Peace Summit. Putin took such a step in order to achieve certain positive results for himself.

This opinion was expressed by former spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert Vladyslav Seleznyov, in a comment for TSN.ua.

"When we talk about non-strategic nuclear weapons, it means tactical nuclear weapons. Their carriers can be missile systems like the “Iskander”, even some types of artillery ammunition, some types of missiles that the enemy uses on our territories, for example, the X-101. They can be carriers of tactical nuclear warheads," Vladyslav Seleznyov explains.

The expert adds: "Will Putin dare to use this case? Of course, he may, if the world does not send him a clear signal that such actions are a catastrophe for him and the entire Russia. There are risks, but we must understand that there must be an effective response from the international community to every such challenge. If there is none, we will all have a lot of trouble".
