Russian army is carrying out offensive actions in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are repelling the invaders.

This was reported by military expert Oleksandr Musiienko on the air of “Espreso.”

“In general, active combat operations are indeed taking place in the area of Sumy and Kharkiv. The intensity of the fighting may increase in the near future — especially at the end of April or the beginning of May,” the expert believes.

According to him, Russia has formed a grouping for this offensive, and it is already being deployed. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have taken several important steps to prevent the enemy from forming a large strike force for an advance into Ukrainian territory. In particular, this refers to preemptive actions on the territory of Belgorod region.

Holding back the occupiers is very important for the defense of the regional center of Sumy region and to prevent the enemy from establishing a foothold for further advance into Ukraine or for creating a so-called sanitary zone.

“A number of preemptive measures are being taken to prevent the enemy from accumulating resources and launching large-scale operations to achieve their operational goals. Thus, offensive actions are already underway, and Ukraine’s Defense Forces are repelling them both in Sumy and Kharkiv regions,” Musiienko added.
