French leader Emmanuel Macron's statement about the possibility of individual NATO countries sending their troops to Ukraine indicates changes in continental Europe's approach to confrontation with Russia.
Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President, stated this in an interview with 24 Kanal.
"Today, Russia has no chance of winning this war. This does not mean that it will end tomorrow and that it will be easy. No. But Russia has no chance of winning this war. And that is why it is hysterically looking for resources in other countries, forming these "alliances". Belarus, official Minsk provided it with resource opportunities, training grounds, reactivated equipment and conducted training," Podolyak noted.
He noted that Russia is making every effort for information campaigns regarding the "attack from the north" on Kharkiv, Kyiv, and so on. They are designed to further demoralize Ukrainians, but everything necessary is being done in the relevant areas to effectively counteract this.
"Regarding national contingents. I like the level of discussion that Emmanuel Macron has set, because it says that conservative, classical, continental Europe is aware of the risks of war, the risks of Russia in an unchanged form, if Volodymyr Putin does not lose. And, accordingly, they are ready to move to another level of discussions," Podolyak noted.
According to him, this level of discussion about the possibility of using the Armed Forces of different countries suggests, that "sooner or later decisions will be made" and "at least training, advisory, logistical missions" will arrive in Ukraine.
"This will be very important for us, because, on the one hand, it will integrate us more into the overall security of the European system. That is, we will become an integral part in the full sense of the word, and then our relations with NATO will be formalized. On the other hand, we will get really substantial support, because in this case people will be interested, they will be inside the "event" and understand, just as Mitsotakis saw yesterday in Odesa, what Russia is. I think he will be much more aggressive in influencing the relevant decisions regarding additional missile defense systems for of Ukraine", - the Adviser to the Head of the Presidential Office believes.
He is convinced that if people from NATO countries stay here, they will feel the "nerve of war", and the influence on society and political parties will be different.
"It's one thing for a politician to come for a day or two, but it's another thing when you're here all the time, feeling everything that Ukraine feels," Podolyak said.
He added that this level of discussion about the possibility of using national contingents makes the previous discussion about the need to provide all weapons to the battlefield in Ukraine, rather than storing them in warehouses, easier.
"Let's wait for Macron's meeting with Zelenskyy, by the way. I think they will discuss it in more detail," Podolyak added.
