Russian forces are entering Toretsk in small groups, trying to establish positions in buildings but suffering significant losses.
This was reported by Mykhailo Stoikevych, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 49th Separate Assault Battalion "Carpathian Sich" during a telethon broadcast on December 8.
The enemy is using all available types of weapons, including artillery and guided aerial bombs, despite the risks to their own personnel.
It is known that the enemy is not evacuating their wounded. Attempts by the occupiers to encircle Toretsk have been unsuccessful.
"As of now, there is no threat of the city being encircled. Despite the challenging conditions, Ukrainian units maintain the upper hand and effectively counter the aggressor," Stoikevych said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively deploying FPV drones for nighttime attacks, equipped with observation systems adapted for low-light conditions.
"Our units effectively eliminate enemy groups attempting to infiltrate the city, burying them under the rubble of structures," Mykhailo Stoikevych said.
Russian forces are developing fiber-optic-linked UAVs, which are difficult to suppress using electronic warfare. Both sides are facing challenges in deploying drones due to rain and frost, which reduce the effectiveness of equipment."
