The National Power Company "Ukrenergo" is preparing several scenarios for the 2024-2025 winter season in Ukraine, anticipated to be the most difficult yet.
Acting Chairman of "Ukrenergo" Oleksii Brekht shared this information with "Suspilne".
"There are three options, including the worst-case scenario: continued heavy shelling of infrastructure, transmission networks, generation facilities, and so on," Brekht said.
According to him, Ukraine lost 9 GW of generating capacity due to Russian attacks in the spring. It is a "significant loss", however, "Ukrenergo" has a plan to restore these capacities.
The worst-case scenario for winter involves continued massive attacks by Russia on generation facilities.
"Under this scenario, with the current level of electricity imports, we may face power capacity limitations on critical, cold days, amounting to no more than two levels of outage schedules, up to 8 hours," the "Ukrenergo" chairman assured.
