The International Monetary Fund (IMF) supports the right of countries to confiscate Russian assets within their territories.

This statement was made by Julie Kozack Director of the Communications Department, as reported by "Ukrinform."

"Any decisions related to the confiscation of Russian assets or the imposition of taxes on the share of these assets should be made at the level of the respective authorities of the countries (where the frozen Russian assets are located - Ed.)," she noted.

According to Kozack, the IMF is monitoring the ongoing discussions to assess "the potential economic consequences for any of the Fund member countries or the consequences for the international monetary system."

She added that the IMF's assessments will depend on what specific actions will be taken by the countries where Russian assets are located.
