Spontaneous garbage dumps have formed in all districts of Mariupol, and sewage flows freely into the Sea of  Azov, polluting water bodies and coastlines. The situation is particularly critical with the Kalchyk River, which becomes increasingly polluted with each passing day.

This information comes from the Mariupol City Council.

Local residents are sounding the alarm, as they have noticed waste from a concrete plant being dumped into the Kalchyk River near the village of Richne in Kalmius district.

"Once upon a time, fishermen used to come to this bridge to catch fish. And now it's a milky river," the residents of Mariupol say, expressing their outrage.

The occupiers not only ignore the problem of river pollution but also contribute to its deterioration. Previously, they built a dam across the Kalchyk River, filling a large part of the river with earth and slag.

Furthermore, in Leporsky Park, a whole "river" of sewage has formed. The sewage problems in Mariupol have reached the scale of a real collapse: constant leaks and flooding of buildings, and now even parks.

During the two years of occupation, the invaders were unable to replace the engineering networks or create an effective utility company. Instead, with their inaction and deliberate destruction of the environment, they are pushing Mariupol towards an ecological disaster.

The Mariupol City Council emphasizes that the actions of the occupiers lead to a complete fiasco in the field of ecology and municipal management of the city. If urgent measures are not taken, the consequences for human health and the environment may be irreversible.
