The Russian occupiers continue and expand the policy of Russification in the temporarily captured Mariupol. For this purpose, they bring migrants from Russia.
This was reported by the Mariupol City Council.
It became known that the occupiers bring migrants to Mariupol, for whom they build mortgage houses. At the same time, they try to evict local residents to the outskirts.
"According to the Mariupol.Sprotyv, over the past six months, the number of Russians in the city has increased by at least 7,800. This figure is based on data on school-age children. As of September 1, 2023, 15,300 children went to school, of which 11,500 were from Mariupol. There are about 3,800 children of the Russians who have arrived. As of now, there are 17,913 school-age children in the city, with the number of Mariupol children almost unchanged. The increase in Russians is about 2,600 children. Taking into account their parents, it turns out to be 7,800", the City Council says.
City Mayor Vadym Boychenko, noted that at first the Russian army killed tens of thousands of Mariupol residents, and now they bring thousands of Russians to the city, who are migrants from Central Asia and regions of Russia.
"They construct new houses for sale specifically for them. All the talk of the occupiers about increasing the population is the result of deliberate Russification. Their goal is to turn Mariupol into a "Russian city" and "sell" this information to the domestic consumer as an achievement", Vadym Boychenko says.
