"Chersonesus Taurica" no longer exists – the Russians have desecrated a historical heritage site of global significance.

SPRAVDI reports this.

"The terrorist state is guided by two principles: what you can steal, steal, and what you cannot steal, destroy. And it is this tragic fate of destruction that has befallen the remarkable monument of Ukrainian Crimea," the report states.

On the site of the completely destroyed world heritage monument "Chersonesus Taurica," the Russians have built a museum, as reported by senior research associate of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Evelina Kravchenko, at the International Forum of the Crimean Platform Expert Network.

The Russians have constructed a "new city" on the cleared territory. The museum overshadows the old monuments, and some artifacts have been relocated stone by stone and reconstructed on the new central road of the park.

According to Kravchenko, the Russians claimed that "they did even better than the Greeks." Most of the artifacts have been taken to their museums. Among the finds are frescoes, pottery, household items and icons.

Background Information:

The territory of "Chersonesus Taurica" is a UNESCO cultural heritage site, where construction is prohibited. It is the only monument in Crimea of global significance. From the 2000s until the occupation of Crimea, Ukrainian archaeologists and historians aimed to create an archaeological park on the site of Chersonesus.
