The Supreme Leader of Iran has supported Putin’s war in Ukraine

On Tuesday the 19th of July, in a meeting with the Russian president Vladimir Putin, the supreme leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei described NATO as an “unsafe organisation”, which had supposedly been planning aggressive actions against Russia, according to the Iranian state information agency IRNA.

“War is by nature a cruel affair, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is not pleased to see the deaths of innocent people. However, in your case, had you not taken the initiative, the opposing side would have begun the war with the initiative on its side”, - said Khamenei, repeating the thesis of the Kremlin’s propaganda.

The Supreme Leader of Iran believes that the Western nations are acting to prevent the emergence of a strong Russia, and has described NATO as an “unsafe organisation”.

“If the path to NATO remains open, this organisation will not see any opposition before it, and if you hadn’t opposed it in Ukraine, it would have begun a war using Crimea as a justification”, - claimed the Ayatollah.

Khamenei described Putin as “a serious man”, has urged him to strengthen his forces in Syria, from which – in his opinion – it is important to expel the USA, and has underlined the importance of the cooperation between Russia and Iran in the context of Western sanctions.

We remind that after the president of the USA Joe Biden had finished his four-day visit to Israel and Saudi Arabia, Iran has proclaimed its technical readiness to create a nuclear bomb.
