The ex-commander of the US Army in Europe, Ben Hodges, said that the liberation of Crimea, annexed by the Russian Federation, should be a priority, because of the crucial importance of the peninsula. However, this will happen if Ukraine receives the necessary assistance.

He said this in an exclusive interview with TSN.ua.

Hodges emphasizes that his assertion about the liberation of Crimea by the end of 2023 is based on one condition: it will only happen if the Armed Forces of Ukraine receive military assistance, specifically the long-range ATACMS missiles.

"If not, it will make this task more difficult. I believe that the liberation of Crimea should be a priority because it is of crucial importance. I don't think Ukraine will be able to ensure its security and restore its economy while Russia keeps Crimea under occupation.

The speed of achieving this goal depends on the United States and other partners providing the necessary weaponry. It will definitely happen and it can happen this year if we provide what Ukraine needs. If not, it will take much more time and there will be greater losses," emphasized Ben Hodges.
