There Is No Alterative to Our Membership in the EU – Zelenskyi

During the meeting with Ukrainian journalists on June 6th, the President emphasized that no alterative options were offered to Ukraine by the EU.

“There is no alternative to our membership in the EU, to our candidate status. We haven’t received any such offers, and even if we had, we would never agree to it”, Zelenskyi said.

The President also gave comments regarding the potential defense union with UK and emphasized that it was considered as an alternative to the EU membership but rather than as an extra step towards ensuring reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.

"The discussions with the United Kingdom about the defense union are held as part of the general process of providing the security guarantees for Ukraine”, the President noted.
