"This way, we will lose the country’s potential": Martin Brest on mobilizing "millions"

Mobilization without sufficient weapons is a direct path to "meat grinder assaults."

Mobilizing several million people could lead to the loss of Ukraine's potential.

This was stated by veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war Oleh Boldyrev, widely known as blogger and writer Martin Brest, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.

Brest pointed out that in Ukraine, mobilization is sometimes selective - affecting a narrow circle of people.

"I don't fully understand the logic of the mobilization process. At times, it seems to be happening within a rather narrow group, while certain segments of society remain completely invisible to military enlistment offices, as if they don’t exist," he noted.

At the same time, mobilizing "millions of people" without providing them with weapons is a direct path to losing the country’s potential.

"Our mobilization is difficult, but we still have people. What we lack is weapons and military equipment. Moreover, our weapons are foreign, and we have to literally beg for them. Beg! Because serious weaponry - like the Patriot system or proper howitzers - isn’t something you can just buy on the market... There is another, highly unpopular option: mobilize several million people and throw them into battle as cannon fodder. That way, we might not lose the country, but we will certainly lose its potential," Brest said.
