"This Will Never Happen": Zelenskyi about NATO Membership for Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the Presidents of Ukraine, states that Ukraine is willing to join NATO any moment, should it be invited, however it has never happened, and will never happen in the future. 

The President made this statement on April 5th during interview with Ukrainian media.

According to the President, Ukraine desperately needs reliable security union, as he previously emphasized to Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO, and leaders of the countries crucial for ensuring the Ukraine’s membership in the alliance.   

"If tomorrow NATO invites us to join the alliance, offers us a solid, serious invitation, instead of playing with our lives again, we definitely will join. However, unfortunately, this will never happen. Too sad, but it has never happened before. Therefore, we will build our own security guarantees for our country strong enough to protect us, to protect our lives. We can stand up for ourselves, we’ve already realized it. But it’s much more difficult to protect each and every of our people”, Zelenskyi said.
