The Russian army is amassing troops in the Sumy direction to push the Defense Forces out of Kursk region. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are "unexpectedly taking steps in a different direction."
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a Zoom conference, as reported by NV.
"In Sumy, they are accumulating these forces, but they have to completely push us out of there. And you know that we are taking certain steps there. First, in one direction, then we shifted a bit and unexpectedly take steps in another direction," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the Kursk operation disrupted Russia's offensive in Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. During this time, the invaders were only advancing in the east.
"Now, the plan is the same: to push us completely out of the Kursk direction. They have increased the number of their troops there. After pushing us out, they plan to strike in the direction of Sumy, then move troops towards Kharkiv, and accordingly, towards Zaporizhzhia to do the same," the Ukrainian leader explained.
