Trump seeks a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter.
U.S. President Donald Trump is striving to secure a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine before Easter. For Trump, demonstrating success within the first 100 days of his presidency is crucial, making this symbolic date particularly meaningful.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian diplomat and former Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in an interview with LIGAnet.
“For him, this is an important domestic political story. If he can come out and say, "I cared about peace, and I delivered results. Keep supporting me,” - Klimkin said.
Additionally, May 9 - the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, a significant date for the Kremlin - could serve as another symbolic deadline. According to analysts, these events are creating pressure on the negotiation process from both sides.
Klimkin notes that even if an agreement is reached, it will not mark the final end of the war but rather an “important milestone” for the current U.S. President.
