Ukraine Plans to Seek at Least $300 Billion in War Reparations from Russia

Ukraine plans to seek at least $300 billion in war reparations from Russia, Ukrainian Justice Minister Denis Maliuska told the German Funke media group, as reported by German broadcaster Deutsche Welle on September 9th.

Ukraine also wants to achieve the adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution that will be the basis for the creation of an international compensation mechanism.

“We want compensation for all the damage that Russia has caused to Ukraine with its aggressive war", Maliuska sad.

The actual damage Ukraine has suffered as a result of the Russian attack is much higher, but the amount of $300 billion corresponds to the international assets of the Central Bank of Russia, which were frozen under sanctions. Maliuska also demanded access not only to these funds, but also the foreign assets of Russian state-owned enterprises and confiscated property of Russian oligarchs. Minister stressed that the Ukraine also expects disclosure of information about Russian assets from Germany.
