The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) has started in Berlin, featuring the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
This is reported by "Ukrinform".
More than 2,000 politicians, diplomats, representatives of business, municipalities, civil society from different countries, etc. take part in the two-day event.
Germany, the host country, has emphasized the involvement of civil society and the importance of connections between cities, communities and municipalities.
Mayors from several Ukrainian cities, particularly from the eastern part of the country, are attending the conference. The broad range of topics to be discussed in numerous panels includes energy, human capital, mental health, cultural heritage and many others.
Several documents are expected to be signed during the conference.
In addition to participating in the conference itself, President Zelenskyy will hold separate meetings with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Bundestag President Bärbel Bas and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The Ukrainian leader will also address the German parliament and visit a Bundeswehr base where Ukrainian soldiers are being trained.
This is the third such conference since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The previous conferences were held in Lugano, Switzerland, and London. The URC 2025 is planned to be held in Italy.
