Ukrainian GDP could fall by 50 percent: the Prime Minister’s forecast
The Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that according to government estimates, only in 2022 Ukraine's GDP may fall by 30-50%.
During the first six weeks of the war, the total damage to Ukraine’s economy exceeded $ 500 billion, according to the Government’s data.
Denys Shmygal has written that in his column to The Economist.
“According to government estimates, this figure could increase in the long run to $1 trillion, or five times last year’s GDP. In 2022 alone GDP may drop by 30-50 percent”, - the Prime Minister wrote.
As it was informed, the International Monetary Fund has forecasted 35 percent drop to the Ukrainian GDP in 2022. At the same time, the organization has underlined that all Ukrainian losses cannot be counted at the moment.
