In Russia, the so-called "elite" is divided into three groups: "hostages", "opportunists" and "believers".

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Lytvynenko told about this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, we do not fully understand what is happening in the Kremlin. But earlier it was customary to talk about the struggle of conventional pragmatists and "patriots". However, it is not completely clear whether it is possible to say that the "patriots" have finally won.

"I liked the classification of one of the European analytical centers. They divided the entire Russian elite into three groups - "hostages", "opportunists" and "believers".

“Believers” are the fewest, while “hostages” are the most, about 60 percent. These are the same pragmatists who gradually begin to suffer from the Stockholm Syndrome. On the other hand, we must understand for ourselves that Russia has never lived so well as it does now. I believe that the situation in Russia today is fragile stability. Quoting the title of one well-known book, “Everything Was Forever, Until It Was No More”, said Oleksandr Lytvynenko.

He also added that all decisions in Russia are made in the Kremlin.

"Hypercentralization. Well, look at the situation in Makhachkala, Bashkortostan. Could they stop these protests? No question. Prigozhyn’s riot. Could they have resolved it? They could. They just didn't get the command from the Kremlin. Without it, important decisions are not made. This increases the possibility of error," the National Security and Defense Council emphasized.
