"We Should Get Ready": Expert Warns About Looming Threat for Kyiv and Other Cities during the Next Few Days

According to Oleh Zhdanov, the military expert, Russia may soon repeat the missile strikes against Kyiv and other cities during the next few days, but on the smaller scale.

Zhdanov shared his opinion about the missile threat in his comment for TSN.ua.  

"Putin is sharply criticized by Russian patriotic nationalists, especially after Crimea Bridge attack. He is criticized because Russian forces do not attack decision-making centers. By the way, in his speech before the Russian Security Council, he personally admitted that he ordered to deliberately attack critical civilian infrastructure. I mean he openly admitted that his goal was terror against civilian population of Ukraine. It was an “image strike”, so to say”, Zhdanov explains.  

He also does not rule out a possibility that the intersection in the capital city’s downtown wasn’t an accidental target.

"My opinion was further confirmed by the fact that Russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan clamed that Russia’s goal was the Verkhovna Rada building. However, she forgot that the Ukrainian Parliament was located at the Teacher Club at that interception over 100 years ago in 1917. As a person with military expertise, I can tell for sure that the missile landed exactly where it was guided. The missile landed at busy interception with many traffic jams during rush hour. Their goal is to kill as many people as possible”, Zhdanov says. 

Should We Expect Continuation of Attacks? 

When asked how likely are new strikes against capital and other cities, Zhdanov responded: “Yes, pretty likely. I think that Russian missile activity will be pretty high during the next week. I don’t expect another massive strike though, since according to our intelligence, Russian air space forces were ordered to start preparations back on October 2nd – 3rd. It took at least a week for them to prepare. However, further strikes against Ukrainian cities, particularly, using drones are very likely. I’d say we should get ready".

High Probability of Another Russian Terrorist Strike  

According to Vitalii Kim, the Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Russian warships deployed in the Black Sea have replenished their ammo and are getting ready for more cruise missile launches against Ukraine. Moreover, Russian air forces are ready for take off from a military airfield in Astrakhan Region of Russia.
