"We Use Force to Stop the War": Putin Voices Another Absurdity About the Reasons for Attacking Ukraine

After nearly a year of full-scale war against Ukraine and the killing of Ukrainian civilians, including children, by his troops, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin cynically states that it was not Russia that started the war. Traditionally for Russian propaganda, Putin accused the West and Kyiv of allegedly starting the war in Donbas.

Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin said this in his annual address to the Federal Assembly on February 21st.

Putin recalled that in December 2021, the Russian Federation sent its request to the United States and NATO demanding what it called "security guarantees," including, among other things, the stop of the NATO expansion. These "guarantees" were denied. Putin called it an "excuse" to "implement aggressive plans."

The dictator of the aggressor country once again falsely accused Ukraine of allegedly planning a "punitive operation against Donbas."

"Then it finally became clear that the "go-ahead" for the implementation of aggressive plans had been given and they were not going to stop. The threat was growing, and every day. The incoming information left no doubt that by February 2022, everything was ready for another bloody punitive operation in Donbas, against which, let me remind you, the Kyiv regime had thrown artillery, tanks, and planes back in 2014," Putin said, accusing the Ukrainian side of fighting in Donbas in the usual propaganda fashion.

Then Putin began to talk about some "pictures of air strikes on Donetsk and other cities". However, it should be emphasized that it was Russia that systematically violated the ceasefire in Donbas.

According to Putin, Russia allegedly attacked Ukraine on a full-scale basis in order to allegedly "stop the war."

"All of this, let me remind you, completely contradicted the relevant documents of the resolution adopted by the UN Security Council. Everyone pretended that nothing was happening. I want to repeat this: they started the war, and we used force and continue to use it to stop this war," Putin said.
