Russia has begun reacting nervously to new aid for Ukraine and the tightening of sanctions. A political analyst explained what is really putting pressure on the Kremlin.

The European Union has approved the 18th package of sanctions against Russia, and Donald Trump has made a loud statement about 100% tariffs. Additionally, new military aid packages for Ukraine are being discussed — not within Joe Biden’s framework, but at Trump’s initiative. All this is making the Kremlin nervous and searching for a way out.

This was stated by political analyst Oleksandr Leonov on Kyiv24.

«The conversation has started about dynamics, about the need to speed up the process. And if new decisions are needed, they will be made, ” the expert explained.

According to him, Russia is beginning to react to the shift in the West’s position. But the two main factors that could truly force Moscow to negotiate remain:

- a deadlock at the front, when the army is no longer capable of advancing,

- economic weakness that prevents maintaining the current level of military intensity.

Leonov emphasized that Putin traditionally tries to buy time, and only serious external pressure can make Russia change its tactics. The West, meanwhile, is showing that it is ready not just to contain, but to shift the balance of power on the battlefield.
