While Ukraine and its civilian population suffer from Russian missile attacks, air defense systems are idle on the territories of NATO countries.

This was reported on the air of the "Espresso" TV channel by military expert, Director of Development at the information consulting company “Defense Express”, Valeriy Ryabykh.

According to him, a certain number of "Patriot" air defense systems are in storage in European countries and the USA. And a dozen of them could easily be transferred to our country to secure the skies.

"The fact is that air defense systems similar to “Patriot” are primarily in the arsenals of NATO member countries located in Europe. In addition, quite a lot of such systems are stored in the USA. It is said that amidst the intensified terror from Russia in the form of brutal bombardment of the territory of Ukraine with the use of guided aerial bombs, tactical missiles, it is quite possible to find up to a dozen “Patriot” units. This will enhance our air defense capabilities until we obtain some other opportunities, which could be associated with producing our own air defense system or receiving Western aviation," the military expert explained.

He also added that while these systems are in storage in European countries, Ukraine suffers from Russian terrorist attacks every day.

"There are air defense systems that could be redistributed because we have already seen similar examples when Ukraine received some systems on a so-called lease just before the season of this Russian terror. We don't know the details, but at least there have been reports of several such air defense systems being transferred to Ukraine. So, in this case, it should be noted that there are reserves for transferring such systems to Ukraine among our partners. There is a strict necessity for this, and our partners must make such, perhaps unpopular decisions, but they are necessary for the security of Europe itself," Valeriy Ryabykh says.
