Russia insists that the moratorium on strikes has been in effect since March 18, even though the agreement was reached today during negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
Mikhaylo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President, during a telethon broadcast explained why the Russians were saying this and what they were planning.
"What is Russia doing? They are doing this quite cunningly: since the 18th, they have started documenting every strike on Russia’s energy infrastructure. And we understand that Ukraine has enough means to carry out strikes... They are documenting this to later say: look, we haven’t struck there. They are compiling a list of targets to then present at the negotiating table and claim that they are fulfilling their obligations, while Ukraine is not," Yermak’s advisor noted.
He emphasizes that every night, Russia uses drones and missiles to strike civilian infrastructure specifically. Therefore, the next step, according to Podolyak, is to pressure Russia to completely stop using drones and missiles to attack infrastructure altogether.
