Ukraine continues to maintain a "buffer zone" in Russia’s Kursk region to protect Sumy and Kharkiv from potential advances by Russian forces.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.
“Today, there were many military reports from commanders, as well as a conversation with Ukraine’s Minister of Defense about the situation on the front lines, focusing on our key areas - Donetsk, as well as the areas where the Kursk operation is being conducted,” Zelenskyy said.
It has been almost six months since the Ukrainian Armed Forces began their military operation in the Kursk region, he says.
“We are maintaining a buffer zone on Russian territory to shield Sumy and Kharkiv from Russian offensives,” the Ukrainian President explained.
He also expressed gratitude to the soldiers who have distinguished themselves in various areas.
Zelenskyy thanked the warriors of the 95th Separate Brigade for their actions in Kursk region, as well as the warriors of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade and the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade for their effectiveness in the Pokrovsk direction, and the 24th and 100th Separate Mechanized Brigades for their heroism in battles for Chasiv Yar and Toretsk.
