Ukraine will strengthen NATO by being a catalyst for change. As the nature of war evolves, the Alliance must prepare for it and restructure its military capabilities.

This was stated by Valery Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine's Ambassador to the UK, during a discussion at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House.

"In my opinion, there are two main points that present a prospect for Ukraine's NATO membership. First, there is currently no alternative to collective security within NATO. We want Ukraine to win; we want to end the war. To guarantee security, Ukraine joins NATO, and the Alliance becomes the guarantor of Ukraine's security, including its restoration," Zaluzhnyi noted.

He also emphasized the need to review and restructure the Alliance's military capabilities.

"Second, I believe that Ukraine, like no one else, can strengthen NATO and be a catalyst for change. We cannot specify exact timelines, but NATO must prepare for war and restructure its military capabilities. The nature of war is changing. This process is ongoing. For now, we are in the process of joining NATO. Let’s be honest and admit that we need to move away from liberalism. I still believe a decision will be made regarding Ukraine's accession to NATO, primarily to strengthen the Alliance," Zaluzhnyi said.
