President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated his calls for an increase in air defense systems from the United States, stating that Ukraine particularly needs drones that can attack and gather intelligence. According to him, Ukraine has started production of some drones, but requires more. It is difficult for Ukrainians to "take a step forward" without such help.

President Zelenskyy made these statements in an interview on NBC News' "Meet the Press" program.

"We need to save our country. Therefore, one of the ways is the joint production of anti-aircraft defense," Zelenskyy said.

"Winter is a very difficult period": the President - about the urgent need of Ukraine

"But during this time, during our joint production, our message to the world, to the United States, Europe, Asia is to provide us with some air defense systems. Simply use them, simply lease them, lease them for this period, especially in winter... Winter is a very difficult period," the President said.

The Biden administration has already approached Congress with a request for financial aid to Ukraine, but it faces resistance due to a sharp decline in the readiness of Republican members of the House of Representatives to continue supporting the country.

"If Russia kills us all, they will attack NATO countries."

There is concern among many U.S. government leaders that the conflict is drawing less world attention because of the Israel-HAMAS war, according to current and former high-ranking U.S. officials familiar with discussions between the U.S., European and Ukrainian governments about possible peace talks to end the war.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of support from allies, as Kyiv is defending "shared values" such as democracy.

According to him, the alternative is too dangerous.

"If Russia kills us all, they will attack NATO countries, and you will send your sons and daughters. And, sorry, but the price will be higher... It is crucial not to lose will, not to lose this strong position, not to lose our democracy," he said.
