Ukraine has now entered into 25 such agreements, including these recent ones with the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

Czech Republic

The security and long-term support cooperation agreement between Ukraine and the Czech Republic was signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala during the European Political Community summit in the UK.

"A significant part of the agreement focuses on enhanced cooperation in the military-technical field, primarily regarding small and large caliber ammunition, production capabilities for firearms and light weapons, as well as drones, electronic warfare systems and heavy equipment," the President's Office stated.

The Czech Republic plans to continue assisting Ukraine in obtaining 155 mm and 122 mm artillery shells with the support of partner countries. The agreement also aims to strengthen ammunition production capacities in both countries and create joint enterprises.

"An important aspect of non-military cooperation is the partnership between the Czech Republic and Dnipro and the Dnipropetrovsk region for reconstruction and sustainable development. The Czech Republic also intends to open a diplomatic mission in Dnipro to enhance cooperation and support," the communiqué said.

Additionally, the Czech Republic will open a cartridge plant and establish assault rifle production in Ukraine.

A large section of the agreement on security and defense details areas of cooperation, from supplying military equipment and ammunition to defense industry collaboration and countering cyber threats. This includes potentially relocating Ukrainian facilities to the Czech Republic, with plans to return them to Ukraine when the time is favorable for this, and creating favorable conditions for the Czech defense industry in Ukraine.

In case of a future armed attack by Russia on Ukraine, the agreement provides for consultations upon request by either party within 24 hours, in a bilateral format or otherwise as deemed necessary by both parties.

"The Czech Republic will continue to support Ukraine on its path to EU membership and provide practical recommendations and assistance... The participants will deepen bilateral relations by further strengthening regular consultation formats and sharing practical experiences of the Czech Republic’s membership in both the EU and NATO," the document states.

Slovenia

Slovenia has already provided Ukraine with 13 military aid packages (including for 2024) and intends to maintain this level of support throughout the ten-year term of the agreement. The Republic of Slovenia also commits to meeting Ukraine's urgent needs to strengthen its security capabilities.

Slovenia will assist Ukraine in training within the EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine (EUMAM). The countries will cooperate in finding sources of financing to help implement projects of the Ukrainian defense industry.

Specific sections of the document cover non-military support. Slovenia will allocate an additional €5 million for humanitarian aid, economic recovery and the "Grain from Ukraine" humanitarian program.

The agreement also outlines deeper cooperation in information and cybersecurity, combating organized crime, intelligence and counterintelligence, and humanitarian demining.

The document clearly enshrines Slovenia's comprehensive support for Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO.

In total, Ukraine has signed 25 bilateral security agreements with the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the USA, the EU, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
