To bring peace closer and save lives, international partners need to authorize long-range strikes on Russian territory and provide the necessary long-range missiles and shells.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized this in his evening address on Sunday, September 1.

He reminded that Russia once again had struck Kharkiv today, injuring nearly fifty people.

"Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble, as there are reports of people trapped beneath it. The targets were ordinary civilian structures – a shopping mall, a sports palace, and residential buildings," - the President reported.

Zelenskyy stressed that each strike on Kharkiv and other cities and villages proved the correctness of our tactics, particularly in Kursk region - to push the war back to where it originated, meaning into the territory of the aggressor state.

"Not just into Russia’s border regions. The terrorist state must feel what war is like. We are working to ensure that as many Russian military facilities, logistics hubs and critical components of their war economy as possible fall within the reach of our weapons," the Ukrainian President noted.

According to him, currently, the ability to carry out long-range strikes on Russian territory is provided by Ukrainian drones and missiles, which allow for the accomplishment of some tasks.

"But true peace, the real end of this war, is a comprehensive task. And to force Russia into peace, to make them move from their deceitful rhetoric about negotiations to taking steps to end the war, to clear our land of occupation and occupiers - effective tools are needed... It is crucial for bringing peace closer and saving lives to have authorization for long-range strikes and the appropriate long-range missiles and shells," Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian President reminded that the decision to authorize the use of long-range weapons on Russian territory must be made by U.S. President Biden, UK Prime Minister Starmer, French President Macron, German Chancellor Scholz and other partners.

"No Russian missile, no Russian strike should be left without a fair response - a response with weapons, sanctions, the right policy and economic support for Ukraine, and a response of justice towards Russia," he concluded.
