One of the first steps towards ending the war should be the release of all Ukrainian prisoners held captive by the Russians.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the participants of the conference "Hope, Struggle, Return – Three Years."
"Every negotiation I have, every meeting with our partners who can help, always includes the issue of Ukrainians, of our prisoners. Now, when we talk with the American side and other partners about how to end the war, we talk about the release of prisoners as one of the first key steps. We believe this must be the case," the Head of State said.
He reminded that for more than three years of full-scale war, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (KSHPPV) has been working, along with other services that are responsible for returning prisoners. During this time, 4,306 people have been freed.
"We remember everyone who is in captivity, all our soldiers, all our civilians. We are searching for information, looking for confirmation about everyone who may be held by the Russians, but about whom we currently have no exact information. And it is always a joy when we manage to find a person, when we manage to bring a person back. We will bring everyone back," Zelenskyy added.
