Turkey has declared its readiness to host a Peace Summit on the war in Ukraine, but also wants to invite representatives of the Russian Federation.
This was stated by President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He stated that since the beginning of the Russian aggression, Turkey has been trying to do everything possible to settle the conflict on the basis of peaceful negotiations.
"We are ready to host the Peace Summit in which Russia will be involved," the Turkish President added.
In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the meeting with Erdogan, he discussed the Ukrainian "Peace Formula" and informed the Turkish leader about the preparation of the Peace Summit at the level of leaders.
"The special role of Turkey deserves your country's leadership to be demonstrated at the Peace Summit for the full implementation of the Peace Formula," the President of Ukraine said.
Additionally, the President commented on the format proposed by Erdogan. Zelenskyy stated that he does not see any reason to invite representatives of the aggressor country.
"We do not see how it is possible to invite people who block, destroy and kill everything. We want to get a result. The result is a just peace for Ukraine. Therefore, civilized countries will first develop a plan, and then representatives of Russia who want a just peace will be involved," Zelenskyy added.
