President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the Russian "Shahed" drone strikes on Sumy and the surrounding region on October 22. He emphasized that this terror can only be overcome through unity with the international community.

The Head of State posted this message online.

Zelenskyy noted that Sumy and the region were under Russian strikes throughout the night and morning.

"Dozens of "Shaheds". Ordinary residential buildings were damaged. Our soldiers destroyed over 20 "Shaheds" in Sumy region alone within 24 hours, and more than 40 strike drones have been shot down overall. Drone interceptions are still ongoing," the President's statement read.

Sadly, three people were killed in the Russian strikes, including a child. The President expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.

Zelenskyy added that there were also injured, all of whom will receive necessary assistance, with all rescue services actively engaged.

"This Russian terror can only be defeated through unity with the world. Air defense and electronic warfare systems, investments in weapon production in Ukraine, long-range strikes on Russian military logistics, airfields and bases. All of this can protect against Russian terror, but only if it's sufficient. Sufficient to ensure that life triumphs over Russian aggression," the President concluded.
