Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to hold a phone conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden to convince him that during his current term, he has the legal ability to take a decisive step and formally invite Ukraine to join NATO.

This was revealed by Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with the "Karpiak on Suspilne" project.

"Of course, our President wants to speak with President Biden once more to emphasize that he has this opportunity while he is still in office, while he still has the legal authority, to make such an important, historic step. I would even call it a step that would end over 20 years of promises made to us each year. We change the wording, but the main thing remains missing: the simple step of taking and inviting Ukraine to NATO," Yermak explained.

Yermak also recalled that some officials and political experts had previously expressed skepticism about Ukraine's ability to obtain EU candidate status "so quickly and during wartime." Moreover, skeptics openly doubted "any significant, unexpected success by Ukraine on the battlefield" during the third year of the war, "yet the Kursk operation happened."

"We have already surprised the world so many times, and for the President, for all of us, for the entire team, the priority is to do everything we can - and even more - to achieve results," Yermak stressed.
