The Russians are trying to bypass air defense

The Russian occupiers are constantly seeking ways to reduce the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense systems.

This was stated in a comment to TSN.ua by military expert, retired Lieutenant General, and former Deputy Chief of the General Staff (2006–2010) Ihor Romanenko.

The expert says that the Russians are looking for new methods to ensure their missiles reach their targets.

"The range of the Patriot systems we have in service is not large. As is known, we have too few systems of this class, and if they are used at low altitudes, their range decreases even further. Taking these characteristics into account, the Russians are constantly searching for ways to diminish the effectiveness of our air defense and missile defense systems. It’s critical for them that their ballistic missiles reach their targets, so they exploit every opportunity. If missiles travel at high speeds and low altitudes, detecting and destroying them becomes extremely difficult for missile defense systems," the military expert explained.
