Should Zelenskyy travel to Moscow to end war in Ukraine? Sybiha issues statement
Andrii Sybiha stated that Ukraine is ready for peace talks and an end to the war, stressing that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is awaiting a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Zelenskyy proposed peace talks to Putin
In a comment to TSN, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Ukraine's Western partners understand that Putin's suggestions that Zelenskyy should travel to Moscow for talks aimed at ending the war are unacceptable.
Sybiha stressed that Ukraine is ready for a peaceful end to the war, expressing hope that Putin will accept Zelenskyy’s proposal to meet.
“Such strange proposals to meet in Moscow cannot be considered acceptable, and our partners share this view. We have spoken with several leaders about how to arrange a meeting between President Zelenskyy and Putin. We have their support, and there is an understanding that such a meeting could provide momentum toward ending the war.
President Zelenskyy is ready for this, and we hope Putin will not hide from such a meeting and will accept the proposal at a venue other than Moscow or Belarus. There is Turkey, there is Switzerland. President Zelenskyy is also ready to travel to the United States. The key factor is political will, and we have it,” the minister said.
