The Russian occupiers may attack Ukraine with an even larger number of drones, an expert suggests.

Ukraine must prepare for massive, almost daily Russian attacks, particularly with drones. Therefore, it is critical not to allow a large number of drones to enter the territory and spread across the country — because we won’t be able to intercept them.

This was stated by Roman Svitan, a retired Ukrainian Armed Forces colonel and military expert, in a comment to TSN.ua website.

According to him, if the Russian army’s goal is to pressure society, they will use 100–150 drones daily. However, if the goal is different — targeting military objects or covering missile strikes — the numbers will vary.

«Then they will gather 500–700, up to a thousand per week, and continue to carry out strikes with a large number of drones. But drones can also be used to cover missile attacks.

Most likely, this is what we will see in the near future. They will send 50–100 drones per day and accumulate them. Then, once a week or once every ten days, they will launch a powerful attack. They will at least try to launch it, ” Roman Svitan says.

He emphasizes that it all depends on targeting. According to him, there are not many military targets for Russian drones.

«Therefore, everything will depend on the goals and the tasks at hand. Is it genocide or a military objective? That’s why it’s hard to predict. Although it’s technically clear how they will act, ” Roman Svitan explains.

According to the expert, Ukraine should prepare for regular massive attacks: «What do we need to do? Understanding that the Russians now have Russian-Chinese „Geranium“ drones, which are being produced in large quantities and will be produced even more because China is primarily manufacturing them, we need to prepare for massive, almost nightly, daily attacks.»

Thus, a large number of drones must not be allowed to enter the territory and spread across the country, Roman Svitan believes.

«We won’t intercept them. The optimal approach is to intercept them as they enter the country. That means frontline air defense. We need to increase the density of frontline air defense and prevent Russian aerial targets from entering our territory. What needs to be done for this? First, all mobile groups we have should be sent to the front, to the so-called trans-frontline zone. Optimally, this should be under the control of newly created corps. Create, if not a brigade, then at least an army air defense unit. They should control a 50-kilometer deep frontline zone and not let a single drone through. Not a single drone should enter, ” the expert says.

Further, according to him, mobile groups need to be equipped with various means of destruction:

«Starting with machine guns, anti-aircraft guns, the same interceptor drones, short-range anti-aircraft missile systems, and MANPADS. This is a whole process of scaling up. And Ukraine’s rear must be protected with an aviation component. Fighters — from four kilometers in altitude. From four kilometers to one kilometer — light aircraft. Below that — helicopters. Object-specific air defense. This kind of division by directions, zones, and altitudes in particular. Most likely, we will come to this. Because there is simply no other option.»
