Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka suggests that Ukraine and the United States could sign a memorandum on mineral resources in the coming days.

He made this statement during the national telethon broadcast.

«This week, we want to summarize certain interim results, simply to formalize them in a joint statement — a memorandum of intent — to put our progress in writing. We expect that even today, possibly, some document might be signed,» he said.

However, he immediately clarified that «there’s still a lot of work to do.»

«Therefore, the final text of the agreement will not be ready this week. There’s a lot of work ahead, since the ideas proposed by the U.S. side need to be refined so that they become realistic and consistent,» Kachka added.

He also refuted Bloomberg’s claim that the agreement involves Ukraine’s debt to the United States for previously provided assistance.

«As part of the agreement, we are not discussing any figures… This is not a payment, not any debt — it’s a belief in our future,» the deputy minister said.
